I am trying to advertise Rugby League Live 2.
My target audience are people who are interested in Rugby League, mainly the age group is 8-16.
I have been looking a some artists that I like and have influenced my work.

Research

Pablo Picasso

I am going to look at the artist Picasso because I find his doodles interesting because of the way that people spend ages making a portrait and then he just does it in a way where it looks as if he hasn’t even taken his pen off the paper.
I like it because of the way he turns some things that would be hard to draw into simple things.  I really like the way that he only uses one line to do them and I think that this idea of simplicity would look good and would do well if were to interpret this into something that people would find complex e.g. a game that people would find hard to get their head round or something in life that is very complex.

I also like Picassos other work and I am very fond of Guernica because of the way that it had a big impact because it was an immediate reaction to the bombing on the Basque town of Guernica.
I like the way that it looks random but to him it all makes sense because the things he created in the painting symbolise the people and town of Guernica and the things that happened there. My favourite parts of the painting are the colours because it shows you the dark side because he uses black, blue and white and there are no bright colours anywhere and I also like he way that he just does anything and isn’t bothered.

Andy Warhol

I am really interested in the work where he uses simple images then he puts colour over it either by making a colour duplicate then moving it around or enlarging it behind the original image because I believe that this was his better work. The way he does his work is so unpredictable because he uses such random things like he uses shoes, a cross, a gun, knives and a hamburger. If I were to make my work like Andy Warhols then I would have to use a simple character or symbol that I could use to stand out and make the image show you what I mean instead of using lots of writing or phrases. With this sort of wok I really like the colours in t and would like to do something along the lines of big and colourful because then it stands out and people notice it straight away. I believe that the concept of Andy Warhol was to take everyday things that people use and see and then make it into art

As well as his colourful work I also really like his Brillo boxes because like his other work it is just so random and you wouldn’t have expected it, the great thing about his Brillo boxes are that they are different and before he did this no one had ever seen it before. The Campbell’s soup tin that he made was also just as good as the Brillo pads and by making these it shows his concept a lot more because Brillo pads and soup are something boring that people see quite a lot.

LeRoy Neiman

He was an artist mainly known for his work on painting and screen-printing of athletes, musicians and sports events. I like this artist because of the way he uses lots of colour and I could use this on my images to make it stand out. I also like the way that he shows the person doing the things that they do daily instead of painting them whilst they are all clean and dressed up.

Dan McCarthy

I also like the work of Dan McCarthy because I think that his screen prints are amazing just because of the work he makes by using it.
I like the idea of screen-printing just because I like the way that it looks when it I finished.
I like screen printing because its not that hard to do and it look great on a cool background that has lots going on, the screen-print I like are of very simple things where there are like 2 main things on the print and this is what Dan McCarthy’s screen prints are like.

My Ideas

My initial ideas

I would like to do a background that is very simple and has like a stadium or something that has to do with rugby league and then I would have like a scrum or conversion screen-printed in front of the background for example I would have a player stood over the ball waiting to take the conversion screen printed onto the pitch. I could also do an alter ego idea where I could use the stages of man with a person crouching down to the way that a rugby player would so it is like you create your player and then in time you would become the rugby player and you would start of dressed like a normal person with a jacket on and maybe a hood up then you could crouch down with a ball and then you would turn into the player with shorts and boots on with a ball in your hands.

My ideas now

I have changed my idea because I have thought of a better one.
My idea is to use combat armour from games like Halo and Fallout to then put on a player, This is then showing people that rugby is a contact sport. Here you can see i have done some drawings of the Enslaved Power Armour from Fallout 3.
